Coordinated transportation plan for Los Angeles County

LACMTA has begun the development of the 2016-2019 Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan.  The Plan aims to identify the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, seniors, veterans, and people with low incomes. The Plan is also necessary to meet the requirements of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program. The goal of the Section 5310 Program is to improve mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities by removing barriers to transportation services and expanding the availability of transportation mobility options.

The coordinated transportation plan for Los Angeles County will be available for a 30-day public comment period in May 2015, and following several public hearings, it will be presented to the LACMTA Board of Directors at its July 23, 2015 meeting.

Viviane, This is a very much needed program to our community. We have no way of getting to one part of the County to the other. For a small example of this, i have a test i have to have taken for over a month now. i do not have transportation and won’t have for another 16 or so days. i had to interview for “ACCESS TRANSIT” on Fri. March 27 St. Joe’s is here as you know but Lakeside HMO choose to send me clear out to “NORTHRIDGE for my DYSPHAGIA test!” Only lakeside knows why, it is unkind and senseless for them to send me clear across the Valley for such a thing but, Go Figure. If that is not enough they are choosing to send me to Encino for Therapy for it after the tests. Is there any rhyme or reason to this when I’m sure there are other places closer for me to go for how many times a week??? And they WON’T allow me authorization to see a ” MOVEMENT DISORDER SPECIALIST”
NOW THAT WE HAVE ONE IN OUR OWN BACKYARD! WHEN WE MET DR. ZIMAN, THE ANSWER WAS “HE IS NOT IN OUR NETWORK!” NOW WE HAVE ONE IN MY NETWORK AND THEY STILL DENIED MY RIGHT TO SEE HIM AS A PATIENT OF PARKINSON’S. I AM THOROUGHLY DISCOURAGED WITH ALL OF IT NOW.
Guess it won’t hurt to try taking on a new crusade, mine is dead! It can only help others!!
