The NeuroCommunity Foundation is honored to be non profit of the month in June 2015 awarded by Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitchell Englander (Council District 12).

Bree from the councilmember’s office joined us on Parkinson’s Awareness Day (April 11) for the art lesson with Alison Paolini, and at the Parkinson’s Pathways symposium on May 2nd. She had the opportunity to spend time with our board members and the interviews with Chairman Dr. Ron Ziman and John Amber are featured in the video.

The Foundation got its start in 1986 at Granada Hills Hospital with the establishment of the Center for Aging Research & Education (CARE) and we’re proud that the CARE Parkinson support group under the leadership of Jeri Posner, MA, LMFT is still going strong (now at Northridge Hospital). The Foundation added a Parkinson and Movement Disorder Information Center in May 2005 which has expanded from serving the San Fernando Valley to include all of northern Los Angeles County, Ventura County, Central Coast and Central Valley.

The NeuroCommunity Foundation offers a wide range of services to help you better understand neurological diseases like Parkinson’s, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, stroke and cognitive impairments. We recognize and support research for better treatments and to find a cure for neuro disorders, and we provide – at no charge –

– support groups and wellness programs
– healthcare information
– latest news on research and medication breakthroughs
– referrals to specialized medical providers
– educational conferences, workshops and seminars
– referrals to local clinical trials and research studies

Honored to be non profit of the month

The NeuroCommunity Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization. We receive no governmental or other public funding, but rather rely solely upon the generosity of individuals like you to support our work. Donations are appreciated and at least 90 cents of every dollar goes to support our mission. We keep our overhead to a minimum and dedicate our resources to helping families in our NeuroCommunity.

Shout out to the amazing support group leaders, wellness instructors, volunteers, interns, and board of directors. Couldn’t have done it without you!
