The NeuroCommunity Foundation Has ReOpened Its Doors

Dear NeuroCommunity Member,

It is with great pleasure that I announce that The NeuroCommunity Foundation is “reopening its doors.” We are partnering with Neuroboxing, co-founded by Jennifer Parkinson and Josh Ripley, to create a reinvigorated NeuroCommunity not-for-profit foundation. It was heartwarming to witness the outcry and requests from members that the NeuroCommunity continue operations. Failing that, it was clear we would be missed. It pained me to leave such a void. Many approached me to try to change our course. As a result, in order to find the best fit to fulfill our mission, negotiations were undertaken with several ocal not-for-profit organizations.

For those of you not familiar with Neuroboxing, I encourage you to visit their website, For anyone suffering from Parkinson’s disease or are post-stroke or have MS, Neuroboxing may be an effective and enjoyable form of exercise as part of your overall rehabilitation, maintenance or exercise programs. This activity is a non-contact form of therapeutic boxing rather than sparring. Your safety is our concern, and for this reason a physician’s clearance to participate in this activity may be required.

Soon our support group network will once again be able to utilize our services for speakers, event coordination, HIPPA compliance and other activities. Similarly, in short order, our website will be reactivated and brought up-to-date. Stay tuned for forthcoming educational symposia and other new and exciting activities. I am also pleased that for continuity and counsel, I have been asked to be an adviser to the newly reconstituted board of directors. For all who may be interested, whether you have done so in the past or not, we remain in need of volunteers. I urge you to contact us through our website or at our phone number (818-745-5051) if you would like a fulfilling way to contribute your time and expertise to enhance your community. Please watch for our new mailing address.

President, The NeuroCommunity Foundation

Jan 24th, 2018

It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of The NeuroCommunity Foundation’s plans for January, 2018. For the last 15 years, The NeuroCommunity Foundation has proudly and effectively served the Parkinson’s, Stroke, MS, Dementia and Traumatic Brain Injury communities in the Southern California region. We have provided educational programs, support groups, information, resources and referrals to make those suffering from these afflictions, their family’s and care-partners, better able to cope with their condition.

Unfortunately, because of circumstances beyond the control of the board, we find that we will need to cease operations as of January 31st, 2018. We sincerely hope that our support groups will decide to continue to provide the excellent support and educational opportunities for their members, spouses, family and friends. Our website’s list of contact information for current support groups will continue to be posted. However, after January 31st, 2018, the website will not be updated.

As chairman of the board, I wish to thank our dedicated board members who have given of themselves over the years to mold our foundation, positively contributing to our community.  I also wish to thank both Viviane Tondeur, our founding educational director, and more recently, our current educational director, for their tireless efforts to carry out the mission of the foundation to improve the lives of those and the family members of those suffering from these conditions.

Lastly, but most importantly, I wish to thank all those in our NeuroCommunity who have provided support and direction for our cause.

On behalf of the NeuroCommunity Foundation’s Board of Directors,

Ronald B. Ziman, MD, FACP, FAAN
